The attempt on the record of "the world's longest bar table" on Saturday, 25th of September 2000 was
successful. A great outcome for the town since the bar table with a lenght of 2,203 km and seating along both sides granted it an entry in the Guinness
Book of Records. Reinhard Leutner, community director, the notary public Erwin Richter and the lawyer Bernd Legal counted 7,484 people ...
Just before 3:00 pm, the view from the old watch tower still left much to be desired - only a few seats at the bar table were taken.
Yet one hour later, a totally different scene met the eye: the roads and lanes vibrating with good mood and a bar with almost all seats taken.
According to mayor Georg Müller there were up to 15,000 locals and guests frequenting the bar table until the evening. In his opening speech at the town
square, Müller called the attempt on the record a "festival of citizens". All 23 districts of Bad Staffelstein, 98 clubs, gastronomy and
companies participated. "This in itself is already a record". He was also happy about the many guests from neighbouring
villages and especially thanked "Mr Longest Bar Table", head of the local administration, Dietmar Zwillich, and the employees
of the municipal depot who had been putting up benches since 10:00 am.

Some of the guests at "the world's longest bar table" even came from overseas. The 73-year-old American Wilhelm Scheuer,
the world's oldest bungee-jumper, came to the attempt on the record accompanied by people from nearby Horsdorf.
Since the musicians also wanted to be counted, they had to run in order to catch a vacancy at the bar table.
At 7:15 pm, the track record was certain. Dietmar Zwillich stopped the measuring wheel at 2,203.2 metres. "This means that with a seating along both sides, the
bar table has a total length of 4,406.4 metres". One hour later, mayor Georg Müller announced at the town square the result accompanied by
enthusiastic applause. "We've made it! 7,484 visitors have been counted!" This way, the present world record of the Tettnanger Hopfenpflanzenverband
who put up benches up to a length of 4 km was beaten.
It goes without saying that MOLL-employees had been supporting the attempt on the record actively.
